Definition:
Electronic Trademark Examination Application System - electronic trademark filing system. It allows the public to complete various trademark filings and transactions on-line.
National Treatment
Definition:
A work originating in one of the member country must be given at least the same level of protection in each member country as that country gives to works created by its own citizens.
Ordinary Skill in the Art
Definition:
That level of technical knowledge, experience, and expertise possessed by the run-of-the-mill or ordinary engineer, scientist, or designer in the technology that is relevant to the invention.
PrinTEAS
Definition:
A former feature of the USPTO's electronic filing system that allowed applicants to complete a trademark application on-line, and then print it out for mailing to the USPTO.
First Sale Doctrine
Definition:
An exception to the exclusive right of a copyright owner to distribute copies or phonorecords of the copyrighted work.
Contributory Infringement
Definition:
Indirect infringement of intellectual property rights in which one person contributes to the direct act of infringement of another.
